10 Dream Actor/Director Collaborations

4. Terrence Malick and Meryl Streep

ihjihio Terrence Malick loves his women. He specifically loves them twirling around in grassy fields. And though some may laugh at his romantic visions, they are undeniably powerful. Malick typically symbolises women in his films as angelic creatures where all the good and hope in the world is stored. He has worked with many great actresses in his few films including Sissy Spacek, Jessica Chastain and Q'orianka Kilcher whose performance in The New World was one of the very best of the decade. Actresses such as Natalie Portman, Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett are also rumoured to be appearing in his upcoming films. Working with Malick is an experimental and testing experience that few actors and actresses can deal with, but Meryl Streep, being the phenomenal actress that she is, would be more than able to hack it should she decide to work with the notoriously secretive auteur. Streep is arguably the greatest American actress ever so it makes sense for her to collaborate with Malick. Actresses in Malick films have to use a lot of body language and facial movement to show emotion, but Streep is an incredibly expressive actress who can mutate into various different forms so she would be perfect for a Malick movie. Actresses in Malick films have a history of giving supremely powerful and touching performances and hopefully Streep would be no different should Malick wish to work with her, but who wouldn't want to work with Meryl Streep?
