5. Lars Von Trier and Jennifer Lawrence
Despite his woefully misogynist tendencies, Lars Von Trier always seems to get incredible performances from his actresses. Whether it was Emily Watson in Breaking the Waves, Nicole Kidman in Dogville or Charlotte Gainsbourg in Antichrist, Von Trier has directed his actresses to career best performances. Von Trier is one of the most difficult and demanding directors in the world and there are stories of his actors hating him, most notably from Paul Bettany, but people like Stellan Skarsgard and Gainsbourg can't speak high enough of him. Jennifer Lawrence is currently the 'it girl' of Hollywood and her star couldn't possibly be any brighter on the back of her Oscar win. She would be perfect for Von Trier because she is wild, crazy, versatile and willing to throw herself at anything. She can play a great age range and filmography suggests she isn't opposed to daring indie movies. Von Trier would be able to get something out of her we haven't seen before, which is saying something considering she has appeared in fims as diverse as Winter's Bone, The Hunger Games, The Beaver and Silver Linings Playbook.
