10 Dream Castings For The Upcoming He-Man Movie
1. Robert Knepper - Skeletor
Casting the faceless tyrant himself was always going to be the biggest point of contention on this list. No doubt the film will push for a darker and more serious portrayal to appeal to modern audiences, but should we be graced with a version of Skeletor as campy and cackling as his '80s counterpart, only a handful of actors could possibly come close to replicating such a persona.
Robert Knepper, who is perhaps best known for playing the psychopathic scumbag Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell in Prison Break, is among this handful, his knack for cinematic villainy making him a natural choice.
Whether the legendary Masters foe is realised via prosthetics or, more likely, motion capture, Knepper's distinctive nasally voice would certainly be the key feature here, harkening back to the original series while simultaneously giving this Skeletor a fearsome new edge, rooted in reality.
Having also played the Clock King on the CW shows, Arrow and The Flash, Knepper is known to fans of superhero media, but isn't exactly a household name among the general public. Perhaps the relative anonymity of this actor would be an additional benefit to his casting, allowing audiences to really believe and invest in the character of Skeletor without constantly thinking of the voice behind him.
