10 Dumb Decisions In Star Wars We Can't Forgive
1. Episode VII - IX - Disney Chose To Wing It With The New Trilogy
Was this a decision? Or a hasty move made by Disney after they secured the rights to Star Wars in an effort to make billions of pounds/dollars/euros/bitcoin?
The original idea to have three different directors for each of the new trilogy films was an interesting move, but as time went by that number went down to two and it was clear after The Last Jedi that J.J Abrams and Rian Johnson had two very different ideas of where the new trilogy should go.
One would think the directors, along with Kathleen Kennedy and a handful of Disney execs, would have sat in a room at least once and ironed our the structure and narrative bullet points of all three films? Alas, the fact that each film in the new trilogy undermines the previous one proves that not only was no plan sketched out, but that no one at Disney or Lucasfilm had oversight over all three films and fact-checked the continuity put out to fans.
For a company like Disney, who invested so much into buying and developing the Star Wars brand, it all just feels like a massive oversight - one that'll take years to recover from.
