10 Dumb Decisions That Will Ruin Upcoming Movies

1. The Leaks - Star Wars Episode VII

Do you want to enjoy Star Wars Episode VII when it hits cinemas on 18th December 2015? Then stop reading now. Stop clicking on the links to plot rumours. Stop going crazy when the littlest bit of news (OMFG, a close up of the Falcon's holochess table). When trailers do drop, watch them once then leave it. Because if you don't then we can guarantee you'll come out hating it. The film won't be released for a whole sixteen months. It's fine to theorise who Daisy Ridley, a complete unknown who looks like a cross between a young Carrie Fisher and a young Harrison Ford, is playing (we're guessing she's the daughter of the Ice Cream Maker Guy), but already things are getting silly. A major leak has suggested the hand Luke misplaced at the end of The Empire Strikes Back could be a major plot point. No matter what you think of it, knowing this means that when you finally see the film there's going to be a few scenes that exist only to tell you things you already know. And it'll only get worse, with more in-depth plot leaks, as we get nearer to release. The production team aren't helping. JJ Abrams' teasing tweets and Force For Change videos are cute, but it almost legitimises discovering all the secrets to be had. And we know that doesn't end well. Prometheus, a competent sci-fi action flick, was torn apart by fans who had unreasonable expectations thanks to a protracted production and overly forthcoming filmmakers stoking the fire. Even if the film had been better than Alien (which it is sorta kinda a prequel to) there would have still been a backlash; so much contradictory information was revealed that nothing could satisfy everyone. The original Star Wars was such a hit because it was so unexpected. Episode VII will be about as surprising as a the identity of Darth Sidious. Which movies do you think will fail based on one big mistake? Let us know down in the comments.
