10 Dumb Decisions That Will Ruin Upcoming Movies

8. Moving It To February. - Jupiter Ascending

When you're still predominantly known for a film that came out fifteen years ago you know your career's not quite gone in the direction you planned. This is the situation the Wachowski's have found themselves in. Following The Matrix Sequels' muggy reception audiences haven't really connected with the director's output. And, with Jupiter Ascending, it seems even production studio Warner Bros. aren't invested. The sci-fi film features Channing Tatum as a wolf-human hybrid who must save a regular Earthling from an alien royal family and it only get's more bonkers the more of the plot synopsis you read. Originally intended to be released last month, the film has been pushed back to allow time for the special effects to be fully completed. That'd be fair enough, if the the film hadn't been placed in the release black hole of February. Moving the film there suggests a distinct lack of faith on the part of the distributor; it's a time traditionally reserved for smaller fare or attempts to reduce a high profile flop. Of course, how much a film makes shouldn't really affect its quality, but unfortunately that doesn't mean it won't. The Lone Ranger was a flawed film, but was buried in the eyes of audiences thanks to the high profile troubled production and impossibility of turning a profit. Expect the same to happen here.
