10 Dumb Mistakes That Killed Horror Movie Characters
7. Sally Monologues The Maniac - Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Another unfortunate entry in a lacklustre franchise, built on the bones of a cult horror hit, 2022's Texas Chainsaw Massacre brought old man Leatherface out to play once again, this time with a cast of absolutely positively imbecilic millennials and Gen-Zedders to mow his way through.
Half a century after the original redneck kill-o-rama that rocked the South, young gentrifiers-in-training Melody (Sarah Yarkin) and Dante (Jacob Latimore) buy up Leatherface's old hunting ground, turfing out his surrogate mother and kicking off the cycle of savagery again.
While it is hard to pick a single mistake out of the many that get these characters killed, it is actually series original Sally Hardesty (played by newcomer Olwen Fouéré since Marilyn Burns passed away in 2014) whose rookie mistake really takes the biscuit.
Finally receiving the news she has been awaiting of Leatherface's return, Sally springs into action with her revenge plans and shotguns, in a move to put an end to him while settling her own demons. Which is not at all anything like the plot of 2018's Halloween, thanks for asking.
Tooling up and cornering him in the orphanage bedroom, Sally chooses to monologue the big man about her dead friends, giving up every tactical advantage she has. No surprise then that this ultimately leads to her impalement on his chainsaw.
More fool her.
