10 Dumb Mistakes That Killed Horror Movie Characters
3. Millburn Plays Coochy-Coo With A Hammerpede - Prometheus
In 2012, the crew of the Prometheus boldly went where no Alien film had gone before: into the far reaches of the quasi-prequel.
With an origin story for: the Space Jockey, the Weyland-Yutani corporation's keen interest in outer space oddities, and the series' titular aliens themselves, some fans found these liberties hard to bear. But, with a fun philosophical underpinning, plenty of extra-terrestrial horrors and a strong cast, including Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron, this is definitely one of the most underrated entries in the franchise.
That doesn't mean, however, that the characters don't make their fair share of dumb and cringe-worthy mistakes.
During their first venture out onto the mysterious moon LV-223, the mononymous, in-universe renowned biologist Millburn (Rafe Spall), ignores the rules of nature and hostile environments and decides to get cutesy with an unidentified lifeform bearing a snake-like body and vagina dentata.
One thing leads to another, and soon he's trying to tickle a hammerpede (something of a precursor to the infamous facehugger). Needless to say, it bites him, wraps his arm and breaks into his spacesuit, leading not only to the worm-choking death of Millburn, but his more cautious crewmate Fifield (Sean Harris) too.
