10 Dumb Movie Trailers That Ruined The Film's Ending
6. Speed (1994)
Speed was a surprise hit for debut director Jan de Bont, a Netherlands-born cinematographer who had previously plied his trade on the sets of Die Hard, Basic Instinct and Lethal Weapon 3. The Dutchman's idea was to create an adrenaline fuelled bus ride through an under siege Los Angeles, and his vision came to life through Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock and a dastardly Dennis Hopper.
Much like the film itself, Speed's trailer was an eye-popping barrage of near misses and large explosions, though, while the movie has a near perfect amount of bombs being detonated, the trailer had just that one too many - the one on the bus.
The vehicle going up wouldn't have been a problem had the trailer left us wondering who was aboard it as it burst into flames, but one quick shot that went unnoticed by many shows the hostages watching the explosion from a safe distance.
At the very least you would have thought they could have left the fate of the film's hero for the film itself, but alas, Keanu is revealed to have survived the frantic thrill-ride through the streets of LA and has the man responsible for the attacks in his cross-hairs. Case pretty much closed.
