10 Dumbest Characters In Disaster Movies

Michael Bay's Armageddon is one of the most gloriously idiotic movies of all time, disaster or not, but serves up its dumbest character in one of its very first scenes.

Armageddon opens with a meteor shower raining down upon New York City. After the initial impact, Bay for some reason decides to cut to two Asian tourists sat in the back of an NYC cab, at which point the female tourist observes the carnage in front of her and still insists, "I want to go shopping!"

Moments later, of course, the tourists and the cabbie are forced to exit the cab as the meteor shower intensifies. Needless to say, those shopping plans were cancelled.

Bay was presumably trying to pass comment on the single-minded nature of hardcore tourists and the flippancy of New York cabbies when faced with chaos - the driver doesn't seem too bothered by all the smouldering rubble - but there's no disputing the idiocy of the woman's non-existent survival instincts.

That she appears to actually survive is nothing more than the dumbest of luck.
