10 Dumbest Criticisms Of Star Wars

9. "Black Stormtroopers?!"

This shouldn't really have to be addressed, but apparently some people out there need it addressing. So, here goes... The first shot of the Force Awakens trailer sees a stormtrooper, played by John Boyega, panting and sweating inside the familiar white outfit with his helmet off, while overlooking what appears to be the desert sands of Tatooine. It's a surprising, striking opening shot, but some seemingly took issue with the fact that actor Boyega just so happens to be black. Which frankly makes no sense. Never in the Star Wars original trilogy do you see inside a stormtrooper suit for an indication of what kind of people the Empire are hiring to make up their personal army, but it beggars belief that certain fans would make a fuss about black people being under the Empire's employ. When even the Empire (clearly) doesn't discriminate based on the colour of people's skin, certain fans should be asking themselves why they're questioning that Boyega is one of the leads in The Force Awakens.
