10 Dumbest Criticisms Of Star Wars

8. "Boba Fett Dies Too Easily In Jedi!"

It's true that, of the original trilogy, Return Of The Jedi stands out as the weakest entry - it was here where Lucas began to view the film in terms of what money he could bring back in through merchandise. Still, the extended opening sequence set at Jabba's palace and on Jabba's barge is classic Star Wars. That hasn't stopped the criticism though, with some taking issue with the moment where pro bounty hunter Boba Fett is removed from battle by his own quarry, as Han Solo accidentally nudges Fett's jetpack and sends him screaming into the Sarlacc pit. What those critics fail to realise is that the point here is to give them back their hero, Han Solo, not to preserve the dignity of a relatively minor character within the universe. To show that your favourite space pirate is back to his old, hilarious self, generally making it up as he goes along, and to offer some catharsis for him being imprisoned in a metal block for god knows how long; you were always going to have to see Solo vanquish his nemesis here. The moment also introduces a little comedic irony to the Star Wars universe, in showing you that not even a trained killer is always prepared for little accidents. Fett's death is embarrassing for him, not for the film.
