As a result of George Lucas making changes to his original Star Wars trilogy over the years, the stand-off scene between Han Solo and Greedo in A New Hope has changed several times. As pretty much everyone knows, Han originally shot Greedo, but since then it's been changed in two different versions to Greedo shooting first, though the scene now stands at both shooting each other at the same time. This has riled purists and casual fans alike, and while it's not necessarily a dumb criticism to make, the 'Han shoots first' controversy has become so overblown that you'd be forgiven for thinking the entire Star Wars saga hinges on this one moment. It doesn't. Neither does the moment impact upon the Han Solo character all that much - if it had, it would have been because Solo had little to no personality, whereas in reality you all know what kind of man Han Solo is whether he shoots first, second, at the same time, or not at all. You could lose the entire scene and still have the Han Solo you know and love; his character is more than just when he does or doesn't fire his blaster.
