10 Dumbest Decisions In Slasher Horror Movies

5. Escape By Cat Flap - Scream

Oh, Tatum. For the first half of Wes Craven's original Scream picture, Rose McGowan's character was set up as the feisty, no BS bestest pal of Sidney Prescott and also the younger sister of Deputy Dewey.

Unbeknownst to Tatum, though, she was actually dating one of the two maniacs behind the Woodsboro murders of that 1996 film. That nutjob would be Stu Macher, although a careful rewatch of Scream suggests that it was likely Stu's partner-in-crime Billy Loomis who was the one to actually 'off' Tatum.

The death of Sidney's bestie didn't need to play out like it did, of course, for Tatum made three stupid decisions that ultimately resulted in her death.

In a movie where Jamie Kennedy's Randy character intricately lists the rules of what not to do in such a situation, Tatum firstly goes against this by heading to the garage on her own to get some beers. There, she is confronted by Ghostface.

For a second unwise move, Tatum then mocks Ghostface and doesn't take him seriously. Soon realising that the sh*t has hit the fan and she's now in a serious situation, Tatum ends up trying to make her escape through the garage door's cat flap/doggie door.

That was the final nail in the dumbness coffin for this character, as despite her small stature, there was no way that Tatum was ever going to fit through this tiny gap - meaning she became trapped, which allowed Ghostface to raise the garage door and crush her neck.
