10 Dumbest Moments In The Halloween Series
7. The Haddonfield Hermit (Halloween 5)
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers - another sequel that wasn't a total lost cause - ended with Haddonfield's resident masked psycho withstanding a barrage of bullets from local law enforcement and falling backwards into a mineshaft.
By this point in the franchise, it's clear that things like gunshot wounds and falling from great heights are little more than a minor inconvenience for Michael and, true to form, the next sequel Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers - a contender for worst entry in the series - picked up with him arriving on the doorstep of the local hermit.
What follows is a series of bizarre events. Michael - because he's Michael - attempted to throttle the Hermit before collapsing to the ground as a result of his injuries. It then cut to one year later and Myers was ready to return to his murderous ways.
In the interim, the hermit was caring for the masked killer while he lay in a coma, which proved to be a fatal error when his patient awoke to celebrate his favourite holiday, but it's a mistake that raises so many questions. Firstly, why would you take in a masked stranger covered in blood who'd tried to throttle you?
Furthermore, how did a hermit living in a crude shack provide healthcare to a comatose patient for a year? How did he administer food, water and treat Michael's wounds? Halloween 5's opening sequence is basically one extended WTF moment.
