10 Dumbest Moments In The Halloween Series
6. Leaving A Mask On A Prisoner (Halloween 5)
Halloween 5 came to a head in the Myers House when Dr. Loomis gave Michael a savage beating with a hunk of wood, knocking his nemesis out cold just in time for the police to haul his kife-happy ass off to a holding cell. We then cut to a scene at the local police station where Myers is behind bars... with his mask still in place.
Why on Earth would they leave a mask on a prisoner? Surely the first thing they would do upon capturing Haddonfield's most notorious serial killer is unmask him to make sure it wasn't some copycat they had in custody. Even if something that obvious didn't occur to the arresting officers, you'd at least think they'd want to assess his Loomis-inflicted injuries, and the idea of them returning his mask afterwards is ludicrous.
Since Michael had spent the best part of four movies with his face concealed at this point, it's understandable that the filmmakers wanted to keep his features hidden to preserve the mystery, but that's nothing a darker jail cell wouldn't have achieved.
