10 Dumbest Movie Plot Twists Of 2015

2. Tomorrowland Is... Tomorrowland? - Tomorrowland

The Twist: After a good hour and a half of teasing, Tomorrowland finally took its limited audience to the titular World Beyond (that was actually the film's subtitle in some territories, a cute suggestion Disney expected a sequel). Was it going to be a steam-punk world infused with 1800s tech? Is it a dramatic realisation of the theme park on which it was based (and thus Walt Disney's ideal for the future)? Or is it an alternate dimension that offers dreamers a new world? Turns out it's all of these at once - it's a parallel utopia that's gone to hell because the world's best minds believed the world was heading towards destruction. Why It's So Dumb: The entire marketing campaign for Brad Bird's film hinged on the question of what Tomorrowland was, promising a movie full of enticing answers. In the end, it turns out the trailers only went that far because the film itself didn't really know. That approximation above is as concise a summary as is possible, but the film is vague right up to its final moments What's really so bad is that the whole thing seems to be built around a desire to make a totally uncynical movie driven by simple, child-like wonder. The film posits itself as an antidote to the dour tone of modern blockbusters, yet outside of some empty spectacle doesn't really offer an alternative beyond being unconditionally happy. Now that's a dystopian future.
