10 Dumbest Movie Plot Twists Of 2020

8. Armando Is Mike's Son - Bad Boys For Life

Bad Boys for Life turned out considerably better than just about anyone could've expected from a belated sequel to Michael Bay's hit action franchise.

But the script also leaned back rather lazily on a plot twist that's become wildly over-used in recent years - the villain being related to the hero.

The Star Wars franchise alone has rehashed this twist enough to make it seem tired and cynical, so audiences probably either laughed or groaned when it was revealed that the film's secondary villain, Armando Aretas (Jacob Scipio), is the son of Mike Lowery (Will Smith).

As it turns out, Armando was the result of a love affair between Mike and the film's main antagonist, Isabel Aretas (Kate del Castillo), years earlier.

This naturally throws a melodramatic spanner in the works during the climax, where Armando learns the truth about his parentage and that his mother has been trying to manipulate him into killing Mike.

Ultimately Isabel is killed and Armando is sent to prison, though not before he teams up with Mike to rescue Marcus. Furthermore, the ending implies that Armando may join Mike on a future mission to shave some time off his prison sentence.

It's all sappy, melodramatic nonsense, but at least it's entertaining sappy, melodramatic nonsense.
