Darth Maul's death was easily one of the stupidest and most avoidable deaths in the Star Wars franchise. Just before dying, he was swinging his lightsaber against the edge of the chasm, causing sparks to rain down on Kenobi. They barely touched him, yet it was all Darth Maul did. He didnt use his Force powers to hurl objects at Kenobis body, or anything else for that matter. There was a small yet noticeable window of time between the moment Kenobi activated Qui-Gons lightsaber and when he swung it at Mauls unprotected torso. He clearly had enough time to raise his own lightsaber to block Kenobis attack, but instead just stood there. Maul pulled of some interesting acrobatics during his duel, so for him to think that his enemies wouldnt be able to perform similar actions just made him look really stupid. Furthermore, Maul showed some lightning-fast reflexes in his ability to take on two Jedi at once. Darth Maul clearly should've done more to try and hurt Kenobi before he performed his Force-jump. If Maul had, for example, hurled objects at Kenobi's body, as Darth Vader had done to Luke in Episode V, it would've added more drama to the scene and would've really made Maul's defeat more satisfying. Instead, fans got a sudden jump and dismemberment without any build-up. It was a very dumb moment indeed.
