After battling alien kitties in an accidental crop top and blasting her way out of trouble on a number of occasions throughout the prequels, how did George Lucas decide to have Luke and Leia's mother bite the dust?
Not due to Anakin Skywalker accidentally and tragically murdering her - as that dastardly Sheev claimed - or after bravely sacrificing herself for democracy. Nope, Lucas instead opted for the far more dumb option of just having the brave Padmé Amidala succumb to a broken heart post-childbirth.
Folks have been known to sadly lose the will to live after a partner passes away in real-life, of course. But for such a young, strong, and inspiring figure to simply throw in the towel after watching her hubby wander over to the dark side has never not been one of the stupider moments to go down within the Star Wars universe.
And if choosing to write the former Queen of Naboo out of the Skywalker Saga in the most rushed and baffling way imaginable wasn't bad enough, this bizarre end also spoiled Leia's original trilogy comments about remembering her own mother during her childhood - despite the fact she was only alive in the galaxy with her for a few moments.
