10 Dumbest Things In The Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy
3. Having Anakin Build C-3PO
While having the greatest droid duo of all time show up in these prequel stories wasn't the worst idea in the world - who wouldn't jump at the chance to see C-3PO and R2-D2 bicker on the big-screen again for old times' sake? - the way George Lucas decided to reintroduce the legendary Threepio left eyes a rollin' back in 1999.
Instead of just having the protocol droid show up on a Republic ship and trying not to be blown to pieces or wandering around the senate, the dumb call was made to have it be revealed that this eternally anxious machine was actually built by Anakin Skywalker as a kid.
You know, the same lad who eventually chops down younglings and makes C-3PO's Rebel pals' lives a misery in the original trilogy?
It was a cute way to tie these two iconic characters together, sure, but it added very little to the overall story being told and simply made the Cloud City scene involving Vader and Threepio sharing the screen in The Empire Strikes Back feel needlessly odd in hindsight.
The galaxy was foolishly shrunk and fans were just left wishing they'd had their minds wiped at the end of this trilogy, too.
