10 Early Predictions For 2018's Best Picture Oscar Nominees

Why It Will Be Nominated: The surest bet of any movie released or not is Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, because the Academy loves war movies, and this is certainly one of the best and most memorable of the last few years.

Plus, it'd be easy for Warner Bros. to build a narrative about this being Nolan's time to finally be recognised, considering his previous egregious snubs.

Why It Might Not: The Academy hasn't shown Nolan much love over the years and that could very well continue here, especially with the movie's unconventional structure, lack of dialogue and absence of a clear protagonist.

Then there's the summer release date too, but all things considered, it seems like Nolan will probably weather the storm this time. Winning Best Picture outright, though? That's a whole other question...
