Festival season may still be a few weeks away from kicking off in earnest, and the 2019 Academy Awards are still more than six months away, but the awards race already feels like it's starting to take some sort of shape.

With studios priming their Oscar-friendly big-hitters for festival premieres and readying awards-friendly release dates near the end of the year, it's abundantly clear which films the studios are putting all their stock in.

Though this past year's Oscar race proved just how brilliantly unpredictable things can be, these are the 10 movies most likely to end up landing a coveted Best Picture nomination.

There's always room for a surprise or two to sneak in there, of course, and several of these films could end up falling short of the mark, but given the talent involved and the buzz reading off the charts, they're the smart picks for now.
