10 Early Predictions For 2019's Best Picture Oscar Nominees
10. A Star Is Born
Bradley Cooper makes his directorial debut with this remake of the classic 1937 romantic drama, which was itself nominated for Best Picture.
This may be Cooper's first time in the director's chair, but he's worked with enough A-list filmmakers to have learned a thing or two, and with Lady Gaga playing the part of the young singer seeking fame opposite Cooper's boozy, washed-up mentor, it feels like an incredibly awards-worthy package.
Furthermore, with Warner Bros. pushing its release from May to October, and a premiere set for the Venice Film Festival, the studio clearly has a ton of confidence in it being a significant awards player.
Though the two previous remakes didn't scoop Best Picture nominations, the magnetic trailer suggests this third remake just might be the charm.
