The Dilemma: A group of 9 Trappist monks live harmoniously in Algeria with the local Muslim population, yet with the mounting fear that terrorists are going to storm their abode and kidnap, likely kill them all, they must decide whether to stay, committed to their faith, or seek refuge.
The Solution: Most of the monks stick around, well aware of their fate, which ends up with 7 of them being executed by the terrorists.
How It Should Have Been Solved: While these men may not have feared death in the same way that an atheist might, is God going to punish them for protecting themselves? What good are they to preach the word of God if they're strewn with bullet holes?
