10 Easily Solved Movie Moral Dilemmas

3. Shoot Your Hand Off And Nobody Needs To Die - Looper

LooperThe Dilemma: At the climax of Looper, Old Joe (Bruce Willis) is about to murder Sid, who he believes will eventually become the unstoppable crime lord The Rainmaker. Young Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) can stop it by committing suicide and erasing himself (and Old Joe) from the timeline - should he? The Solution: Joe goes through with it, saving Sid and his mother (Emily Blunt) at the cost of his own life. How It Should Have Been Solved: How's about just shooting your hand off? That would instantaneously cause Old Joe's shooting hand to disappear, and so best case scenario he'd be scrambling around trying to fire a gun in his weaker hand, likely giving Sid and mother plenty of time to flee. Or better yet, why not just shoot Old Joe? It gives Young Joe a limited lifespan and an exact knowledge of how he is going to die - unless he makes an effort to fix it somehow - but hey, it's better than dying on the spot. Boy, I need to lie down.
