1. Nightcrawler Beats The White House (X2)
20th Century FoxThere was an outcry when Nightcrawler was shunted out of X-Men: The Last Stand, although in hindsight his absence wasnt necessarily a bad thing. It means that Nightcrawlers most memorable scene in the X-Men franchise remains his single-handed assault on the White House in X2, which is so perfectly executed that it still earns the number one spot over ten years down the line. A snippet from Mozarts Requiem soars in the background as security is completely overwhelmed by Kurts teleportation; its a nice touch that they initially believe that there are multiple assailants. Nightcrawler flips and kicks his way into the Oval Office and dodges every bullet until hes pinned the President to his desk with the knife poised for the kill, at which point hes shot and forced to flee. This scene was one of the earliest to embrace the potential of superpowers in a fight scene, and somehow its still exhilarating to watch and note the influence its had. The effects arent mind-blowing and the stakes arent all that high, but Nightcrawlers first appearance remains the one to beat.
