7. Hit-Girl Takes Down A Corridor Of Thugs (Kick-Ass)
UniversalKick-Ass, like its source material, attracted criticism for its constant and graphic violence, particularly because much of it is committed by a little girl. Others felt that Hit-Girls character was little more than bait for the angry conservatives in the audience. If you fall in either camp, this scene isnt going to change your mind, but its one of the most streamlined fight scenes in any comic book film, and its funny to boot. The original Kick-Ass has a fantastic soundtrack, and its use in the infamous hallway scene is perfect. Hit-Girl draws her guns to a remixed version of the guitar riff from Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down, which builds as Frank DAmicos goons creep closer towards her, visibly terrified even as the camera closes in on Chloe Moretzs angelic face. Then the gunshots begin, the music abruptly switches to Joan Jetts Bad Reputation, and Hit-Girl rips through the corridor without pausing for breath. She reloads mid-stride and ends up borrowing one henchmans gun only to point it in his face. Its outlandish and a little bit garish, but by the time the movie lapses back into silence, your heart will be beating that bit faster.
