1. The Downer Ending - Star Wars: The Force Awakens
If you're expecting "and they all lived happily ever after in a Galaxy, Far, Far Away" you probably haven't been paying enough attention. From John Boyega admitting that the script made him cry to the shots of characters crying in the trailers released so far and the fact that this is only the start of a new trilogy, it seems inevitable that we're going to see an almighty bittersweet ending. As George Lucas so eloquently put it, Star Wars rhymes; so as well as expecting family revelations, character journeys to discovering Force powers and even more specific echoes, we can also probably expect a big death like Obi-Wan's. The other notable thing is that the Empire and the Rebels' roles have reversed, so it's likely that we'll see a mirror image of Luke's triumphant, unexpected victory at the end of A New Hope, which could spell disaster for the Rebels. And though fans might well be devastated, it's all good news for the trilogy's ongoing drama. Less Exciting: Being murdered for even suggesting something vaguely spoilery until 2016.
