10 Essential Marvel Teams Not Yet Used In The Movies

2. Dark Avengers

Dark Avengers
Marvel Comics

Headed by Norman Osborn in a post-Secret Invasion Marvel Universe, the Dark Avengers were a group of villains masquerading as Avengers and legitimised by Norman Osborn's stint as head of S.H.I.E.L.D., which he transforms into the espionage group H.A.M.M.E.R.

With characters like the murderous Bullseye playing Hawkeye, the man-eating Venom playing Spider-Man, and the manipulative Daken playing his father, Wolverine, among others, Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers were able to thrive on good P.R. and Norman Osborn's conniving political manoeuvring. The villains faced world-ending threats while themselves being a ticking timebomb, and with Norman Osborn's madness and the superhero (with the power of a thousand exploding suns) Sentry's psychological instability ensuring its inevitable end.

Having this kind of a setup would make for one of the most excitingly dangerous stories in Marvel, the mind games and untrustworthy elements giving it the same pull as the political manoeuvring seen in Game of Thrones.

With betrayals happening left and right, hyper-intelligent amoral villains working together and against each other, and the Sentry's ticking atom-bomb of an alter ego, the personified black hole, The Void, just itching to come out, it's a house of cards with high stakes audiences will love to see fall.
