After the shambles that was the original theatrical cut of Blade Runner, director Ridley Scott was quick to try and rectify the damage that was done to his precious baby, which has since resulted in numerous different cuts of the film being available to the public.
Each version features different scenes and outcomes, but its most talked-about and hotly debated inclusion is that of the origami unicorn.
Throughout the film, fellow Blade Runner Gaff constantly taunts Deckard via origami animals, but the final animal he uses is a unicorn, which echoes a sequence early in the film in which Deckard talks about how he's been dreaming about unicorns.
However, Gaff isn't privy to this information, and him knowing this implies that Deckard himself is a replicant, as this means that Gaff knows of Deckard's memories, which would mean they're false and have been programmed into him.
Given that much of Blade Runner's narrative is based around what it truly means to be human, this small inclusion adds further weight to the film's themes and the ongoing debate as to whether or not Deckard is in fact a Replicant has undoubtedly been a contributing factor to Blade Runner's lasting legacy.
