This somewhat glossed over scene from Return of the Jedi's laserdisc release is not only an incredibly important character moment, but one that allows viewers to cast doubt over the Jedi's intentions thus far.

Present on the film's laserdisc release, yet strangely absent from many other additions, this notable tidbit is infamous amongst fans due to the way it alters many of the audience's preconceived notions about the story.

In the standard theatrical cut, Luke approaches Yoda as he's on his deathbed. The two share a tender moment with one another before Yoda eventually slips away, and sure, it's a great scene but once you've seen the extended version, you'll be left scratching your hand in bewildered as to why they chose to cut such a pivotal moment out.

Whilst struggling through his final moments, Yoda reveals that Obi-Wan would have told Luke that Vader was his father, had Yoda actually permitted him to do so. This small exchange casts a lot of doubt over both Yoda and the Jedi Council's intentions throughout the original trilogy. Showing that despite their surface-level good intentions of the Jedi, there are more calculated and sinister goings on behind the scenes.
