4 Mentioning Corrupt Associates Councilman Douglas was just plain sloppy. He should have never left such an obvious trail between his employer and Jeremiah Mercer to begin with. If he wasn't going to cover up those connections, the least he could do was hire himself some protection. And if he did want to get caught, every public servant knows that if you get interrogated by a protagonist, you have to at least deny your crimes like crazy before admitting anything. Nope, not Douglas. A little gasoline in his car was all that was needed to do the trick for him. And look what happened to Douglas as a result. Any public official on any corner in any city could have helped Douglas prepare otherwise, even without bribes, because no official in his or her right mind would leave any room to let their constituencies know how business really works.
