1. Ultimate Spider-Man/Miles Morales
The most essential storyline Sony should tackle is the bestselling, ever-popular Ultimate Spider-Man series which has been running under the stewardship of superstar writer Brian Michael Bendis for years and spawned a hit TV series. Ultimate Spider-Man focused on the very young Peter Parker as he went through high school and learned how to become Spider-Man - until he died in 2011's Death of Spider-Man arc. This introduced the half black/half Hispanic Spider-Man, Miles Morales. Miles has an interesting origin story as his uncle is the Prowler, a minor villain, who initially exploited Miles' newfound powers to help him in his fight against the Mexican crime-lord, the Scorpion. Since then, Miles has been recruited by SHIELD's Nick Fury to help in the fight against crime. If Sony want to put out a new Spider-Man movie each year, and don't want to fob fans off with proxy films starring Spidey's enemies, you double the number of Spider-Men so you could have a Peter Parker Spidey movie one year and a Miles Morales Spidey movie the next. It also works nicely in that Miles is a lot younger than Peter (the Peter in the non-Ultimate Marvel Universe) so his stories focus on being a young person in today's world and he'd also be a role model for non-white kids who're into superheroes. The regular Marvel Universe Peter Parker Spider-Man movies could look at being a late 20s/early 30s guy as well as Spider-Man. Take a chance Sony and bring Miles to the big screen! * Those are my picks for the most essential Spider-Man storylines that should become movies - what're yours?
