10 Even More Movies With Ridiculously Subtle Foreshadowing

7. Hartley Admitted He Was The Bad Guy - Red Notice

There is no shortage of movies that feature a twist towards the end that one of the good guys has really been a bad guy all along. It's something that can be incredibly effective when done right, but due to it being such an overused trope, it can be hard to pull off in a satisfying manner.

However, not all of them outright give the game away at the very beginning. This is the route Red Notice chose, and it worked surprisingly well.

The film has a relatively by the numbers story about the unlikely duo of master thief Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) and FBI Agent John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson) coming together to stop Gal Gadot's villain, The Bishop. The chemistry between Reynolds and The Rock carried much of the weight, but the reveal at the end that Hartley and the Bishop were partners all along was a good one.

What made it even better was that during Booth and Hartley's first interaction, the latter admitted he was the bad guy, but no one noticed as he appeared to be speaking in the context of Booth's perspective. There were certain other moments that pointed to Hartley's true nature, but none quite like this.
