10 Even More Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed

It seems unfair to judge a movie before anyone has had the chance to see it. The instant a big-time franchise announces a sequel or a cult classic gets remade, they're bombarded with a staggering amount of scrutiny. But there are always signs hinting the film is being set up for failure, and once these signs are recognised, it's difficult to remain hopeful.

If an expensive property has a dwindling fanbase, it can't be expected to make a profit. If a director has lost their way, cynicism towards their next project is reasonably justified. If a brand is going through a slump, audiences won't flock to theatres like they used to. And let's be honest, nobody was surprised with how Madame Web turned out. (In fact, we called it in our previous list.)

Now, that's not suggesting these entries are 100% guaranteed to fail - after all, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Barbie brought in over $1 billion each despite receiving a deluge of pre-emptive skepticism - but based on the behind-the-scenes drama, a slew of delays, and a general lack of interest, the odds are against the following ten upcoming films.

Tom Cruise’s Dark Universe may have been a disaster, but at least Universal Studios had the foresight and decency to pull the plug when the first instalment bombed.

The same cannot be said about The Twisted Childhood Universe. (Yes, that's what it's actually called.) The first entry of this slasher-comedy saga, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, was arguably the worst film of 2023. Rather than stopping then and there, the studio rushed out a follow-up a year later, and although the sequel was an improvement, that's like saying a car crash is better than a trainwreck.

Due to these films’ abominable scripts, acting, and cinematography, expectations for the next instalment, Bambi: The Reckoning, are rock-bottom. Now, the idea of turning one of Disney’s most adorable characters into a killing machine has potential if handled with care and finesse. But based on the atrocious repertoire of the director, Dan Allen (Mummy Reborn, It Came From Below), this adaptation looks deader than Bambi's mom. (Too soon?)

Not only is The Reckoning guaranteed to be a critical failure, but a financial one. Although Blood and Honey made $5 million at the box office, the follow-up barely earned one-tenth of that amount, indicating even the biggest fans of horror parodies have given up on this travesty.

If that’s the case, Bambi: The Reckoning may very well be the last entry in this worthless franchise.
