10 Exact Moments Fans Turned On HYPED Movies

8. Peter Parker's New Look - Spider-Man 3

Maybe the most infamous entry on this list, 2007's Spider-Man 3 saw Sam Raimi return to his more fast-paced and cartoony roots whilst also attempting to deepen the emotional impact of the series. The resulting film was overstuffed with a triumvirate of villains and tonally messy, bouncing between serious relationship melodrama and goofy superhero fun with a moment's notice.

Many single out Peter's cringeworthy new look, an emo makeover prompted by the apparently unfashionable symbiote Venom, as the turning point for this film. Admittedly, it's hard to imagine the movie winning back the crowd after this goofy sequence.

But there's an argument to be made that Peter's new look is meant to be at least a little comical, and the cringe is at least partially intentional in this case. As for the reveal that Thomas Haden Church's Sandman is actually the tough who shot Uncle Ben all those years ago?

Now that is an over-egged, too convenient sort of twist which feels thrown in and thoughtless. It's exactly the sort of moment which, when paired with Peter's new look, doomed this promising but overdone film.
