It's a testament to Marvel Studio's writers that they managed to concoct a scenario where lovable hero Peter Quill (a.k.a. Star Lord) punched the man who murdered his girlfriend in the face and the audience's reaction was "Peter, you dick!"

For the few of you reading this who haven't also watched Infinity War, this unfortunate chain of events came about when Peter and a collection of other Marvel heroes confronted the genocidal maniac Thanos in a bid to thwart his attempt at wiping out half the universe's population. Mantis, a member of Star Lord's crew, used her mind-manipulation powers to subdue Thanos so the others could rip off the Infinity Gauntlet empowering him, but the revelation that Thanos had thrown Gamora (Peter's girlfriend) off a cliff caused Quill to lamp Thanos repeatedly across the latter's granite-hewn jawline. This disrupted Mantis' mental mojo long enough for Thanos to get his bearings, and he subsequently curb-stomped the heroes before going on to cross "wipe out 50% of all organic life in the universe" off his bucket list.
