10 Exact Moments Fans Turned On Their Favourite Movie Characters
4. Anna - "You think I'm crazy?!"
Script-writing is, we imagine, damn difficult. All it takes is one badly written line to completely suck the audience out of a movie and leave them wondering "What the hell was that?"
Case in point: Frozen 2's decision to momentarily turn fan-favourite Anna into a cringey rom-com girlfriend.
"You think I'm crazy?!" is Anna's response to her boyfriend pointing out that you'd have to be pretty crazy to marry someone you just met, as Anna almost did in the first movie. It doesn't look so bad written down, but when said out loud (especially in the embarassingly overacted manner Kristen Bell delivers the line) it doesn't ring true at all. Portraying the eminently relatable Anna as "cliched over-reacting girlfriend #27" was a massive disservice to the character, and one that left us worried that the sequel would undo all the goodwill the original generated.
Fortunately Anna soon goes back to being her best self as the movie continues, which makes it all the more puzzling that nobody at Disney realised just how bad this one line was. We'll chalk it up to the same type of situational blindness that led to Christopher Nolan thinking Talia Al Ghul's infamous death scene was acceptable acting and move on.
