10 EXACT Moments That Derailed Huge Movies

1. Die Another Day - Bond... Somehow Fakes A Cardiac Arrest

The first 25 minutes of Die Another Day, the most loathed Bond movie of all time, are actually great.

It opens with an awesome action sequence in North Korea, which, refreshingly, doesn't end with Bond getting away. He's imprisoned for over a year, and when released, he's been framed as a traitor and has had his licence to kill revoked. In the pre-Daniel Craig movies, Bond had rarely, if ever, been this broken and vulnerable, so this was such a fantastic way to start Die Another Day off.

If only it had lasted.

Here, it's easy to pinpoint the exact moment Die Another Day loses the plot. It's when Bond fakes a cardiac arrest by... somehow slowing his heart down a bit or... something. He then jumps off the MI6 boat and swims all the way to shore, something he shouldn't have been able to do after a year of torture and captivity.

From here on out, the film totally goes off the rails. Bond's ordeal is forgotten about almost immediately, and he's reinstated before long. Worst of all, this movie devolves into absolute self-parody featuring invisible cars, weaponized mecha suits, and a hammy British super-villain (Toby Jones) who's revealed to be a North Korean colonel who's undergone gene therapy.

Die Another Day is as dumb as a sack of hammers, and it all started with Bond's faked cardiac arrest. Depressingly though, this moment still isn't even the tenth stupidest thing in Die Another Day, which shows just how bad things got with this instalment.
