10 Exact Moments That Doomed Horror Movie Villains

4. John Doe Kills Mills' Wife - Se7en

Scream 4 Jill
New Line Cinema

In the case of Se7en's John Doe (Kevin Spacey), doom and self-annihilation are very much the point, as the brutal serial killer has meticulously planned a series of circumstances which will result in his own death.

Doe's ploy throughout David Fincher's masterful horror-thriller is to complete seven kills designed in the vein of the seven deadly sins.

His sixth kill, symbolising envy, is to kill protagonist Detective Mills' (Brad Pitt) pregnant wife Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow) and have her severed head delivered to Mills in the middle of the desert.

This was the moment of no return for Doe and his unhinged plan, as moments later an enraged Mills shoots Doe dead, in turn completing the seventh and final sin - wrath.

While Doe ended up succeeding in his mission, when it's one so pointlessly deranged that ends with one's own death, can it really be called that much of a success? Given Doe's clear mental illness, his actions throughout the movie are basically a convoluted feat of slow-motion suicide.
