10 Most Exciting Moments In Batman Movies

Celebrating 25 years of big screen Batman movies!

When the Harry Potter series came to an end in 2011, Batman became the undisputed crown jewel in the Warner Bros. movie catalog, a notion that was only reinforced by the multi-billion dollar success and critical adoration that adorned Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. Refusing to rest on their laurels, the studio are bringing the character back to the big screen with no less than three movies planned for Ben Affleck's iteration of the Caped Crusader; Dawn of Justice, Justice League and then a standalone Batman movie, all of which are due in the next five years. A full 75 years after the character's first appearance in the 27th issue of Detective Comics, Batman still remains one of the biggest icons in popular culture. Whether it be through comic books, feature-length movies, animated and live action television shows or video games, the Dark Knight has retained his appeal for three-quarters of a century. The quality of the Batman-related media has varied wildly throughout this time, but the popularity of the character has never faltered. With that in mind, this article will take a look at what are not necessarily the greatest, but the most exciting moments from the Batman movie franchise. Whether they be massive action set-pieces, crowd-pleasing moments, edge-of-the-seat thrills or even tension-filled dialogue scenes, there is no denying that these ten scenes definitely got the audience's blood pumping.

Honorable Mention: Holy Sardine! - Batman: The Movie (1966)

Batman's first feature-length cinematic outing came bathed in the day-glo camp of the kitsch television series, with Adam West and Burt Ward bringing their admirably-straight faced portrayals of Batman and Robin to the big-screen in this gloriously over-the-top caper. The highlight comes when Robin's questionable piloting of the Batcopter sees the Caped Crusader emerge from the sea with a shark attached to his leg. After Batman's clubbing blows fail to dislodge the hilariously unconvincing rubber shark, Robin is called into action to hand down the Shark-Repellent Bat Spray, which thankfully was in place for such a scenario. One quick spray, and the shark drops back into the ocean and explodes, such is the sheer potency of the aerosol. The greatest thing about this scene isn't just the intensely dramatic music, but the fact that there are also Bat Sprays for use against whales, manta-rays and barracudas should such incidents ever occur. Genius.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
