10 Excruciatingly Bad Films You Should Die Before You See

5. Manos: The Hands Of Fate

An unwatchable monument to incompetence, Manos is of interest mainly to young filmmakers – it shows how NOT to make a movie.

From an opening montage over which the director forgot to add the opening credits to the choppy editing (the camera could only capture 32 seconds of film, so that was the longest they could hold a shot), the film is a virtual textbook of technical gaffes.

The clapperboard is visible in one shot, while a night scene has two police officers conduct a search by taking three steps back – as far as the lights would illuminate. Shot MOS (“Mit Out Sound”) as a cost-saving measure, the filmmakers economized further by having the entire supporting cast dubbed by two people, which must’ve made for fun times in the dubbing suite. So if the little girl’s voice sounds overly mature, you know the reason why.
