10 Expanded Universe Creations That Star Wars 7 Could Incorporate

9. Leia Reconciles With Anakin

The novel The Truce at Bakura takes place days after the Battle of Endor at the end of Return of the Jedi and tells the story of the Rebel Alliance intercepting a distress call and going to save an isolated planet from an invasion of reptilian aliens. Bakura belongs to the Empire, however, so a truce must be struck between the two forces in order to repel the invaders. While the Rebels are in the capital city of Bakura, the force ghost of her father Anakin appears to Leia much as he did to Luke at the conclusion of Return of the Jedi. Anakin begs forgiveness for his past atrocities, not the least of which are the destruction of Alderaan and the torture of Leia herself on the Death Star; Leia tells him she is unable to forgive him and he sadly departs. Years later, Leia finds her grandmother's journal while on a mission to Tatooine and realizes that she can learn to forgive him; she and Han name their youngest son Anakin in his memory. While this event would have happened years before the movie will likely take place, the existence or mention of young Anakin Solo would show that Leia had found it in her heart to forgive her father and realize he was not always a heartless monster. If a plotline is used where a certain family member falls to the Dark Side (see later on this list), a heartfelt discussion could take place in which Leia says that anyone can redeem themselves.
