10 Expanded Universe Creations That Star Wars 7 Could Incorporate

10. The Jedi Academy Is On Yavin IV

Yavin IV (the moon shown in the background) was the site of the Rebel Base in the original Star Wars movie and the launching point of the last-ditch attack on the Death Star as it moved into the system. The Expanded Universe presented a rich history of the moon, dating back to 5,000 years before A New Hope when an exiled Sith Lord took up residence in the Temple that would become the Rebel Base. The novel Jedi Search, taking place 11 years after the Death Star was destroyed, details Luke Skywalker's attempts to set up an academy in order to rebuild the long-extinct Jedi Order. After enlisting his sister Leia and the Chancellor of the New Republic Mon Mothma to determine a suitable location for the academy, it is determined that the isolated moon Yavin IV would be perfect due to its already standing and abandoned great Temples. Mayhem goes on to ensue in subsequent books due to a dormant Sith Lord spirit reawakening, but that's all in a day's work for Luke Skywalker. Theoretically, Episode VII will present a new and revitalized Jedi Order led by Luke himself, and it would be very cool to see them follow the book and place the training facility on Yavin IV. A short scene showing Jedi cadets training would be enough to present this plot point, and it would be worth it for the sole reason of seeing the location on film once more 38 years after its last appearance. Several more entries on this list feature sequences that take place at the Jedi Academy, so chances are we will be seeing it in one form or another; why ignore the existing idea of placing it on Yavin IV?
