10 Extreme Movie Scenes That Left Stars Scarred

4. Eliza Dushku Dislocates Her Shoulder - Wrong Turn

Eliza Dushku Wrong Turn
20th Century Fox

Released in 2003, Wrong Turn is an intense and agreeably simple backwoods slasher which eventually gave rise to some gory, sillier sequels. The hillbilly horror reignited interest in the long dead subgenre and contributed to a craze epitomised in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hills Have Eyes in the years that followed.

It’s a better film than either of them, tighter than the former and less needlessly unpleasant than the second. But it’s no masterpiece even for corny, camp horror lovers, so was this reasonably solid horror really worth what its stars went through whilst filming?

Just what was it that they were put through?

Well, listen carefully when Buffy star/ eventual final girl Eliza Dushku is bolting between the branches of tall trees to evade the monstrous mutants late in this tense flick’s third act.

That pop you heard when she ran shoulder first into the tree trunk?

That’s her shoulder dislocating for real.

The gruesome sound was kept in the film proper presumably as testament to the actor’s commitment, so credit to Dushku for being a good sport at the very least.
