7. Shaun of the Dead - The Mirrored Group
You probably all know this, but before the genius that was Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz/The World's End (it is going to be genius again, right?), Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost made the channel four comedy Spaced. Spaced was all about two thirty somethings just getting through life in their cheap flat that was surrounded by odd friends in a culturally referenced, self aware world of hilarity. The one thing that made that show great was the relationship between Tim (Simon Pegg) and his flat mate Daisy (Jessica Hynes). Save for a great cameo in Shaun of the Dead in which our rag tag band of normal people encounter a mirrored version of themselves during a zombie apocalypse, Hynes (or Stevenson as she was known then), has been fairly wasted by Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg since the days of Spaced. The mirrored group led by Hynes (who plays Yvonne), contains the incredible comedy talent of Matt Lucas (Little Britain, Shooting Stars), Martin Freeman (The Office and more recently, The Hobbit), Tasmin Gregg (Green Wing, Black Books), Julia Deakin (Spaced, Im Alan Partridge) and Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentleman, Psychoville). The best of British comedy is cleverly used in a scene that stands out in the memory, despite the characters short screen time. Personally, who wouldn't like to see more of the world of Shaun of the Dead? Why not make it Yvonne of the Dead and see what
that band of misfits went through during a zombie apocalypse (and not just hear about it briefly at the end). With such great talent only seen for a brief moment in an already great film, who wouldn't fancy seeing their story?
