10 Facts You Probably Didn't Know About Hogwarts

8. Unlimited Food

When watching the movies, everyone remembers the famous Great Hall food scenes, wishing we could join in with the unlimited grub given to the students every meal time. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, the students are given an array of colourful dishes, and even dessert - how they aren't all full by that point we'll never know.

Not only does the school provide the food by magic, there are also hidden places to get even more extra. In the books, it is said that if the students are peckish during the night, they may enter the Hogwarts Kitchen at their own accord, entering by tickling a pear on a painting of a bowl of fruit.

After the pear has giggled, it turns in to a green door handle, revealing how to enter the room. House elves reside inside the kitchens, and are responsible for making the delicious meals we so fondly remember on screen.

The kitchen itself is located under the Great Hall, leading to the Hufflepuff basement - an idea set by Helga Hufflepuff after she sheltered many house elves from abuse. Some of her recipes are still used in the school to this day.
