10 Failed Movies That Actually Deserve A Reboot

9. Max Payne

Max Payne Video game adaptations are rarely good, though the trailer for Max Payne had me totally psyched; John Moore's visuals seemed to live up to the source material, and Mark Wahlberg appeared well-cast in the role. The end result, then, was a tremendous disappointment; the plot from the video game was re-arranged - so that Max finding his dead family is a flashback in the middle of the film - and a number of bizarre flourishes were introduced that make little sense. Most distressing of all, however, is the troubling casting of Mila Kunis as Mona Sax - she's far too young and cute for the role - and a dispiriting lack of action. Above all else, something a film like this should get right is the action, but it comes only in brief fits and starts. What a reboot needs is a hard R-rating - how is a film about drugs and murder supposed to be a PG-13, like the previous effort? - and a director versed in film noir, someone like Robert Rodriguez. Shoot it in the same visual style, but just get a writer who understands and respects the source material this time...
