7. Timecop
Jean-Claude Van Damme hasn't made many great movies throughout his career, and Timecop certainly isn't one of them, but it is unquestionably one of his most ambitious, interesting failures, one that with a hot new star at the helm could kick-start a new franchise. While the film fared well at the box office, it was a critical flop due to its nonsensical narrative, which didn't stick to its own time travel rules, and focused too much on propping up Van Damme's star credentials. The film simply didn't have the budget to do all the cool things filmmakers should do with time travel, like going back to ancient times - the film only briefly visits the Civil War era and 1920s - or travelling into the future. Oh yeah, that's right, you can't travel forward in time in this movie, a senseless plot device intended solely to ensure the budget of the movie didn't balloon out of control. For a reboot, it needs a big-ass budget, get rid of the time restrictions, and throw someone like Bradley Cooper in as the lead. Sorted.
